The Marcos 1800 Prototype is a particularly characterful British sports car, distinguished by its low stance, compact dimensions and pronounced sporting design. Marcos was known for its lightweight construction and direct driving experience, giving its models a special place in British sports car history today.
This example was first registered on 23 October 1972 and is finished in Aluminium-Lime. The car is equipped with a manual 4-speed gearbox and has an indicated mileage of 89,734 km.
An important feature of this Marcos is its modified engine. The original 1,783 cc engine was bored out to approximately 2.0 litres. Both the intake and exhaust valves were enlarged, a more performance-oriented camshaft was fitted, and the engine is equipped with a twin Weber 42 setup appropriate for the Marcos 1800. The exhaust system was also adapted to suit these engine modifications.
As a result of these modifications, engine output is higher than the original standard specification. As the current power output has not been measured on a dynamometer, no exact horsepower figure is stated.
The car underwent a professional restoration in the past. The bodywork remains original and in good condition, showing normal signs of use. The paintwork also presents well, with signs of use consistent with the age of the car.
The interior is original and shows normal signs of use. The original ventilation cap for the left door window is also present.
Our Oldtimerfarm inspection team has prepared an expert report for this car.
