Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5 16V '89
Following the success of the 190 E 2.3 which appeared in 1984, Mercedes decided to launch the E 2.5 in 1988. It was distinguished from the 2.3 only by the logo on the trunk. The purpose of this launch: to compete with the BMW M3. It was only built in 5743 copies. The exterior is very sober, except the rear spoiler. What made this beautiful German suffer: the tunings of all kinds made by more or less talented "bodybuilders". As for the engine, it was born well, because the 2.3 which served as its base was revised by Cosworth from the base E230.
The numerous tests at its release (Automobile Magazine, Sport Auto, Moniteur Automobile, Autocar, etc .), drew the same conclusion: it is not a sports car, but a fast GT, with a lively engine and appreciable comfort.
